Burglar arrested at scene in Lianokládi—homeowner watched live via security camera
A homeowner in Lianokládi, Phthiotis, detected a burglar through security cameras and immediately alerted police. The suspect was arrested at the scene minutes later.
Monitored the burglar from his mobile phone and called police
On the evening of Wednesday, 23 September, a man was arrested in the area of Lianokládi Railway Station in Phthiotis, accused of attempted theft from a residence.
According to Ta Nea, the homeowner was absent when he discovered, through the security camera system he was monitoring on his mobile telephone, that an unknown man had entered the interior of the residence.
Without wasting time, he contacted "100" and provided the authorities with a detailed description of both the suspect's movements and appearance. According to the description, it was a man with a moustache, wearing a grey hood.
The Operations Centre immediately mobilised the available police forces. A rapid response patrol car and officers from the Lamia Organised Crime and Investigation Sub-Directorate arrived at the scene.
The officers blocked the possible escape routes and caught the burglar by surprise, who did not know that his movements were being recorded in real time. He was arrested at the scene.
The arrested man was taken to Phthiotis Police Headquarters, where a case file was drawn up against him for attempted theft.
