Trial of police officers over death of Razastarr's Tsiampokalos — 5 years on
A new legal proceeding has begun against police officers who handled the road death of Andréas–Odysséas Tsiampokalos in 2021 outside Thíva.

Five years after the traffic accident that cost Andréas–Odysséas Tsiampokalos his life, his family returns to the courtroom. As In.gr reports, a new legal chapter opens on Thursday, with police officers accused of breach of duty, breach of official confidentiality and perjury.
The 46-year-old singer was struck and killed in the early hours of 23 August 2021 on the provincial road between Thíva and Thísvi. It took more than three years for the driver who hit him to face trial. In December 2024, the three-member Misdemeanour Court of Thíva unanimously found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter and imposed a prison sentence of 16 months with suspension.
The driver's conviction, however, did not close the case. In the new trial, among the accused are the driver together with his wife, who are accused of moral complicity in breach of duty.
Andréas–Odysséas's sister, Yolanda Tsiampokalos, known in music circles as "Sadahzinia", spoke about the case on the programme "Developments Now". "We have an administrative state that does not care about people and human life and we are asking to learn the truth, which we have not yet learned," she stated.
According to Tsiampokalos, there was an eyewitness who was called to testify 2.5 months after the incident. "I am concerned by the fact that from the very beginning they tried to cover something up," she said characteristically, adding that those involved were cleared the same evening, while an autopsy report stated that there was no witness.
The same witness, when she finally testified, asked the police officers whether the couple she had seen stopped at the scene were suspects. The police officers, according to Tsiampokalos, claimed that the specific individuals had already been checked and were not considered responsible for the singer's death.
For the family and friends of the singer, five years of legal proceedings are recorded not only in case files and court rulings. Andréas–Odysséas Tsiampokalos remains for them the friend and musician who continues to be present through all he left behind.
