Trial for 17-year-old's murder in Serres: 16-year-old defendant denies intent to kill
The trial for the death of a 17-year-old last February is concluding at the Three-Member Court for Minors in Serres, with the verdict scheduled for announcement on Saturday, 27 June.
During his testimony, the minor accused of the violent incident admitted that he had attacked the victim. However, he maintained that he did not intend to take his life. According to what was said in the courtroom, the young man claimed that the intensity of the confrontation was not such that it would have resulted in a fatal outcome.
At the centre of the case was a message that Angelos had sent to a girl. She reportedly passed it on to the 16-year-old, who then sought out the victim. The witness gave testimony in favour of the defendant, describing him as a non-violent person. "He told me that he hit him, but that's where it would have ended. He was angry about the message Angelos sent me," she stated.
From the victim's family side, a technical adviser testified that the 17-year-old had suffered four blows to the head and body from knees and elbows, which were fatal.
The second day of the trial began at 9:00 in the morning and concluded at 18:00. On Saturday, proceedings will continue with the public prosecutor's recommendation, the arguments of the lawyers, and proposals for mitigating factors.
