The three-member Court of Criminal Appeal found two former OPEKEPE executives guilty, upgrading the charge from misdemeanour to felony for the embezzlement of 1.5 million euros.
The case concerns the unlawful appropriation of funds from the Payment Organisation. The two executives were accused of falsely registering beneficiaries on payment lists, misappropriating money that was intended for farmers.
The court imposed prison sentences and monetary fines. The ruling is expected to be appealed.
