The prosecutor's office has brought charges against a 29-year-old woman, who is accused of wounding her 24-year-old partner with knife blades in the Upper Town district of Thessaloniki. The offence attributed to her is attempted murder, and she also faces a charge of illegal possession of weapons.
The incident was recorded on the morning of Tuesday inside a mezzanine apartment. According to the police account, following an intense quarrel, the woman is said to have used two blades against her partner, causing him injuries.
The defence of the 29-year-old, headed by lawyer Margarita Simeonidou, contests the charge. According to what she argued, her client had repeatedly suffered abuse from her partner, and a few days before the incident, he had attempted to take her life by strangulation. The lawyer emphasised that at the time of the incident, the accused was in a state of severe fear.
Furthermore, the defence contends that the 29-year-old acted to save her life and that it was she who contacted the emergency ambulance service immediately after the incident.
The case is now being investigated by the judicial authorities, who are called upon to ascertain the exact circumstances under which the violent incident took place.
