In the Zografou area, a 54-year-old man is now in custody, facing serious charges relating to the death of two relatives. The victims are his mother and sister, whose remains were removed from a room that had been sealed and blocked with plaster material.
The authorities had launched an investigation following a report from relatives, who stated that they had lost all contact with the two women for three months. During an initial search of the house on the 28th of the month, the suspect told police officers that the women were living at a different address and had not been located.
Last night, following a prosecutor's intervention, a new search was carried out at the flat. This time, police officers discovered the two bodies in an advanced state of decomposition, locked in a space where the entrance had been blocked. The coroner who arrived at the scene estimated that the women had died at least a month before.
Initially, the 54-year-old was taken to the station for questioning. During the interrogation, he claimed that his relatives died of natural causes and that he had decided to conceal their deaths by placing the bodies in the locked room. He claimed that the death of the two women occurred approximately three months earlier.
Following the prosecutor's order, his questioning was converted into arrest and he was charged with aggravated homicide. The rest of the flat was in normal condition, in contrast to the sealed room where the victims were found.
