A violent incident took place in Kallithea, leaving a 15-year-old Greek minor dead from wounds inflicted by a blade. The alleged perpetrator, aged 18, was arrested at his residence after he returned there following the altercation, as reported by the Newspaper of Editors.
The minor victim had previously come to the attention of prosecutors. He had been found carrying a sharp object, whilst two months earlier he had been beaten in a similar incident.
The 18-year-old confessed to holding the knife with the black handle. Officers located him at his home, where his mother received them. He claimed that he threw the sharp object into a bin following the incident. The weapon used in the crime remains missing.
The minor was rushed to Hippokration Hospital with wounds to the chest. Despite doctors' efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations rule out hooliganism motives, although both those involved supported the same team. The possibility is now being examined of rivalry between two groups for control of a square in the area. Residents reported that the two sides had clashed again recently, possibly due to a dispute over a girl.
Fourteen people were brought to police stations. Of these, four are expected to be remanded in custody as they are alleged to have actively participated in the brawl. Some participants managed to escape and operations are ongoing to locate them.
So far, those brought in have remained silent. The 18-year-old confessed to his act after the others identified him as the one holding the blade. The coming period is considered decisive for clarification, with new testimonies and laboratory analyses of objects that were seized.
