Execution of 52-year-old in Glyfada — authorities investigating alleged mafia settling of scores
In the early hours of Sunday, 11 October 2026, unknown assailants murdered a 52-year-old man in a remote location in Glyfada, near the construction site at Old Elliniko. According to Newsit.gr, the manner of execution points to a mafia-style settling of scores, and investigations are being directed primarily in this direction.
The victim, known by the nickname "Parrot", is said to have had outstanding accounts with rival gangs and members of Albanian organised crime. However, because he had many enemies, the investigation at this stage remains open to multiple scenarios.
The ambush scenario
According to authorities, the most probable scenario is that the perpetrators were monitoring every movement of the victim and followed him by motorbike. When he reached the selected location — remote, without security cameras and without neighbouring buildings — they shot him in the back and fled in an unknown direction.
A passerby who discovered the man found him lying on the road surface next to his motorcycle, which was also lying on the ground — a fact which initially suggested a traffic accident. Eight shell casings were found at the scene, whilst all the shots the victim sustained were to the back of his body, from a 9-millimetre calibre firearm.
Investigation by DAOE
Police officers from the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (DAOE) are seeking video footage from the wider area that could lead to traces of the perpetrators. Subsequently, statements will be taken from the victim's partner and from people in his circle.
Criminal history of the victim
N.G. was known to authorities with an extensive criminal history. In 2015 he was arrested as a member of the criminal organisation of G. Moschoury, known as "Thamakia" — who was murdered in April 2025 in Chalandri, outside a private clinic, by Russian-speaking assassins on the orders of Edik's Russian-speaking organised crime group.
In 2018, at the Panathenaic Stadium, the 52-year-old shot and wounded another Panathinaikos supporter, whilst in a subsequent incident on Alexandras Avenue, outside a club of the same team, he opened fire again on a fellow supporter — an incident for which he was arrested in 2022. He frequented and worked at two well-known nightclubs on the seafront.
His most recent involvement with the law was in 2024, when he was arrested for domestic violence. In recent times he had been circulating freely under restrictive conditions.
