Murder of 59-year-old in Eúosmos: Victim's brother knew the 43-year-old accused
Maria Kiosé's brother revealed to MEGA that he had known the 43-year-old for 20 years. Robbery appears to have been the motive for the murder.

Eúosmos: The alleged perpetrator was known to the 59-year-old's family
The 43-year-old who is alleged to have murdered 59-year-old Maria Kiosé in Eúosmos, Thessaloniki, was an acquaintance of the woman's family, as In.gr reveals. The woman's brother spoke to MEGA and Live News, providing new details about the case.
"I had known him 20 years ago. I had a café bar here in Eúosmos and I had told him: if you stop, don't drink, don't do anything, I'll give you a job. When I saw him one or two times that he was drinking and doing things, I told him no," the victim's brother stated. "I didn't expect he would have done this. I was shocked," he added.
According to him, the 43-year-old had met Maria only once up close. The two of them were, however, friends on Facebook, and the brother believes they may have communicated on the night of the crime — which would explain why there were no signs of forced entry at the door.
"My son came — my sister wasn't answering"
The victim's brother described how the crime was discovered: "At 7 o'clock I speak to my sister every day. That day she didn't answer the phone and then my son came. He says: Dad, my aunt isn't answering, there are no lights on inside. I call her, she doesn't answer. They called the police. They broke the window and went in and found her."
The 43-year-old was identified from video footage, DNA evidence and witness statements, as well as from personal items belonging to the 59-year-old that were found at the house where he lived with his partner.
The accused's partner: "He sent me photographs"
The 43-year-old's partner revealed that on that day he had sent her photographs of items — a dress, a bag — telling her that he was giving them to her as a gift. "I didn't ask him. We had some other things going on between us. He had some guilt. I trusted him very much," she stated.
Regarding the accused's previous arrests, she said: "He has been troubled by the law for sixteen years, but he never murdered anyone ever."
Two arrests in one month — freed both times
According to information that has emerged, the 43-year-old was arrested twice during March 2026. On 7 March he was held for a drugs matter and domestic violence, and on 16 March for domestic violence again. In both cases he was released.
When the 43-year-old's brother visited the accused in prison, police from the Security Division approached him and questioned him. Searches then followed both at his own house and at his partner's house, where the victim's items were found.
Robbery the likely motive — death from asphyxiation
Robbery appears to have been the motive for the murder. Money, jewellery and other personal items were removed from the 59-year-old's flat. According to the findings of the investigation, her death resulted from asphyxiation caused by compression of the neck with a bag strap.
