A new piece of evidence is now in the hands of Counter-Terrorism officers, which may shed further light on the case of the attack on the residence of Aphrodite Nestor.
During the raid by prosecution authorities on the flat where the 29-year-old was found, one of three arrested men allegedly attempted to throw his smartphone out of the window in an attempt to conceal it. The device was found intact, however, and is currently being analysed in order to uncover evidence such as calls, contacts and digital traces.
The 29-year-old and a 26-year-old woman, who was found in Crete following the incident, were arrested as the primary suspects. Both move in anti-establishment circles and have engaged the authorities previously. A third man, aged 24, is alleged to have provided the flat where the couple took refuge before and after the attack.
According to findings from the preliminary investigation, the perpetrators left the location where they had taken refuge shortly after 4 am, with their features covered. They had studied the route they would take in advance. They approached Nestor's home from Vasilissa Olga, moved towards Gravias at a rapid pace to avoid detection by cameras, left the incendiary device and departed. The first explosion occurred at 4:35.
Shortly before returning to their refuge, the perpetrators removed their hoods, with the result that they were recorded by a surveillance system. According to reports, members of the same group participated in the sequence of incendiary actions, organised into two sub-groups.
