Infant murder in Kypseli: 18 knife wounds and three unprotected children

The lifeless body of an infant was found inside a pink suitcase in Kypseli, bearing 18 knife wounds to the back. According to megatv.com, three of the wounds were inflicted ante-mortem and the remainder post-mortem. The exact time of death could not be determined, as the body had remained for an extended period under refrigeration conditions.
In the dual arrest is a 43-year-old man, who faces charges of pimping, and a 38-year-old German woman, who insists that all the children are hers. Three minor children remain of unclear fate — "unaccounted for", as the source reports.
Multiple warnings that were ignored
Since 2020, three complaints had been filed for neglect and substance use by the parents. The "Smile of the Child" organisation had been notified. Only during 2025, the children were taken to the Children's Hospital three times due to neglect. According to the president of POEDEN, both the Police and the Prosecutor's Office had been notified. Yet the 43-year-old is said to have taken the children and removed them without anyone intervening.
The 43-year-old is known to the authorities: in 2020 he had been charged with pimping against a 40-year-old German woman on Acharno Street and had served a prison sentence, being released in October of that year from Korydallos Prison.
Frequent relocations and accommodation via Airbnb
The two defendants changed residence frequently. Prior to moving to the flat in Kypseli, the family had lived in a fourth-floor apartment in a residential building on Fylis Street, which was also rented via Airbnb. The departure from there occurred approximately one and a half months earlier, following a fire that broke out in the house. The authorities are conducting DNA testing to determine the actual familial relationships between those involved.

Vasilis Lampropoulos, the police correspondent for the newspapers TA NEA and TO VIMA, stated that the 38-year-old's statement was ongoing and that within a few hours the 43-year-old was expected to begin giving his statement regarding the homicide. "From the forensic examination, beyond the 18 knife wounds, it was established that he had no other pathological problems," Lampropoulos said.
According to the same source, the authorities believe this to be a joint act: "They think their child is a nuisance and they kill it — that is what they believe has happened," due to drug intoxication. The police no longer believe the homicide could have been committed in 2022 or 2023, and are attempting to determine the exact location and time.
Children to give statements with child psychologists
The prosecutor's office has requested that all three children give statements, in the presence of child psychologists. This is expected to take place in the coming days. Among the questions the authorities are seeking to answer: whether the children lived transporting the dead infant from freezer to freezer, from house to house. The 38-year-old, according to megatv.com, had stated: "I want to have it with me and even take it to Germany, dead."
