Three people are now facing charges of intentional manslaughter in the murder of the head of Apesokario in Heraklion, following an evaluation of evidence by the prosecutor.

The prosecutor of Heraklion has brought more serious criminal charges against three individuals in the case of the death of 49-year-old Alexandros Daskalakis, president of Apesokario. On Thursday afternoon, those involved were brought to the city's courthouse to make their statements.
According to patris.gr, the case file initially formed by Heraklion Security for fatal bodily injury was upgraded following a prosecutorial decision. The 32-year-old son of a livestock herder and a 59-year-old shepherd who worked for the same family now face charges of joint intentional manslaughter. The 57-year-old father, a livestock herder, is accused of moral complicity in the act. All three denied any involvement and requested an adjournment to address the judicial authorities on Monday, 15 June.
The upgrade of charges resulted from a comprehensive assessment of testimonies, audiovisual material, and the forensic pathologist's report. The latter indicated that the victim's death did not result from an accident or altercation, but potentially from premeditated criminal action.
From the outset, rumours circulated in the local community of confrontations between livestock herders over the use of grazing land. Residents reported that groups of herders repeatedly entered the properties of others, causing damage. Police confirmed that this information was not unfounded, but was based on specific data connected to chronic disputes in the area.
Digital traces from mobile phones played a significant role in clarifying the case, confirming the presence of specific individuals near the scene of the incident. Authorities focused on the time window between 11:22 and 11:30 on the morning of 1 March, an eight-minute period during which Daskalakis does not appear on security cameras and within which, according to police assessment, the tragic events took place.
Furthermore, in the hands of prosecutors is video material from a property in the area, which shows a flock of sheep moving in close proximity to the point where the 49-year-old was attacked. Investigators are examining whether the people accompanying the animals were present during the commission of the crime.
