New video footage has emerged in the case of the death of 49-year-old Alexandros Daskalakis in Crete, who was killed in an attack with an agricultural tool. The video comes from a security camera and shows him shortly before the fatal incident.

According to reporting by Efsyn newspaper, the footage comes from a recording by television station Star. The unfortunate man, a father and president of the local community of Apesokario in Heraklion, is seen leaving his home at around 11:22 in the morning. He rode his motorcycle to a shop to purchase coffee and food, which he had intended for a person he had hired to work on a nearby farm.

Heraklion police proceeded with three arrests. The detained individuals are a 59-year-old man and his 32-year-old son, as well as a 57-year-old livestock farmer. The younger of the first two had been involved in the case of Vangelis Giakoumakis's death a decade ago.

The legal representative of the victim's family, Georgos Steiakakis, spoke to cretalive.gr about the developments. As he stated, the relatives are following the investigation with anxiety and hope for a full clarification. He noted that from the beginning they had ruled out the possibility of an accident, based on what they knew from the hospital.

According to him, police have gathered strong evidence linking the detained individuals to the crime. The case will be referred to the prosecutor, who will decide on criminal prosecution.
