Security camera footage has come to light showing 45-year-old Stavroula Leventaki on her way to the home of her 43-year-old tenant, shortly before her murder in Crete. The visual material has become decisive for the course of the investigation.
On Tuesday morning, the man who confessed to the murder was brought before a prosecutor and investigating magistrate on charges of illegal cannabis cultivation, from which he was released with restrictive conditions. A few hours later, he was charged with the woman's murder, requesting and being granted a postponement to enter his plea on Friday, 26 June.
In the footage aired by MEGA, the 45-year-old appears without holding any objects as she walks towards the perpetrator's home. As journalist Vassilis Lampropoulos notes, the visual material appears to capture a different moment in time from that described by witnesses and by the perpetrator himself.
The material effectively guided the investigations of the prosecuting authorities. The authorities continue at an intensive pace with the investigation into the circumstances of the crime, examining new evidence, witness statements, and additional visual material that may shed light on the motives and movements of the 43-year-old.
