Police officers from the Organised Crime Confrontation Division arrested a 57-year-old man in the wider Attica region. The man is accused of possession and trafficking of narcotics.

A 57-year-old man who authorities had been seeking as an escapee from a correctional facility fell into police custody in Attica. Officers from the Organised Crime Confrontation Division arrested him on the afternoon of Wednesday 27 May.
The arrested man faces serious charges for unlawful possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances. During a search conducted on him, police officers found two packages of cocaine weighing a total of 1.5 grammes, which were intended for distribution.
In a subsequent search of his home, authorities located and seized eight further packages of cocaine, weighing 108.5 grammes. Additionally, a small quantity of heroin was discovered, along with two mobile phones, a digital precision scale and 140 euros in cash.
The 57-year-old had disappeared after taking a six-day leave from the correctional facility where he was being held, never returning. His history includes numerous previous dealings with the justice system for similar offences.
He was brought before the prosecuting authorities.
