Two arrests in Thessaloniki for outstanding sentences

Police in Thessaloniki carried out two arrests of individuals with outstanding convictions for serious offences during routine checks.

During scheduled police checks in Thessaloniki, officers proceeded with the arrest of two individuals with open legal matters.

On Tuesday afternoon, in the city centre, officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Department located a 39-year-old foreign national. Following verification of details, it was established that an international arrest warrant from Turkish authorities was outstanding against him. The man had been convicted to a sentence of 21 years and 6 months for human trafficking, an offence that is also prosecuted under Greek criminal law.

In a separate operation, officers from the Delta Crime Investigation and Detection Department located and arrested a 27-year-old Greek national in the Diabaton area on the morning of the same day. There were active prosecution documents against this individual.

Both arrested individuals will be brought before the competent prosecutor for further proceedings.
