Three years after the violent murder of 27-year-old Polish woman Anastasia Rubińska on the Greek island of Kos, her mother remains convinced that the case has not been closed. Natalia Rubińska told the newspaper Fakt that the man convicted of the murder had accomplices.
The crime was committed in June 2023, when Anastasia was on Kos for work with her partner. During the night of 12 to 13 June, she disappeared. On 18 June, her naked and mutilated body was discovered beneath branches. The authorities' investigation quickly turned to 32-year-old Salahuddin S., a Bangladeshi citizen, whom Anastasia had met shortly before her death.
Security camera footage showed the unfortunate woman leaving on a scooter with the suspect and entering his residence. Salahuddin S. faced charges of abduction, premeditated murder and rape. In December 2024, the court of first instance found him guilty and imposed a life sentence.
In early 2024, the convicted man filed an appeal against the verdict. This means the case will be examined again by the court of appeal. However, more than a year has passed since the appeal was filed, and no trial start date has yet been set.
Anastasia's mother expressed her disappointment at the delays. She also described her traumatic experience during the first instance trial, where she was forced to leave the courtroom during witness testimony and was unable to follow all the testimony.
