Mutual complaints and SDI following the dramatic pursuit in Thessaloniki

Two police officers have been arrested and a Sworn Disciplinary Inquiry (SDI) has been ordered against them, following a pursuit of TikToker "Teo Vasilia Tzountasian" in the centre of Thessaloniki on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. According to Newsit.gr, the incident became known through a video posted by the TikToker himself on the platform.

"Teo Vasilia Tzountasian" alleges that the police officers did not switch on their beacon nor gave a signal for his vehicle to stop. In the videos, he is seen describing the incident, claiming that the authorities never notified him of their intention to check his car.

ELAS denies these claims. According to the police account, the TikToker developed high speed after the Analepsi toll booth, ignored a checkpoint signal and, in an attempt to flee, crashed his car into parked vehicles.

He alleges that ELAS officers broke the passenger window and the rear right window with a crowbar in order to extract him from the vehicle, with the result that he suffered minor injuries from the shards. The police respond that the driver had locked himself inside the car.

Following the incident, mutual complaints ensued. The TikToker filed a complaint for damage to third-party property, threats, dangerous bodily harm, breach of duty, false accusation and false testimony. The police officers in turn accused him of disobedience, violence against officials and dangerous driving, resulting in him also being arrested.

Due to the seriousness of the complaint, the competent authority has already ordered an SDI against the police officers involved. The TikToker, through new posts on the platform, stated that he denies all the charges attributed to him.
