Igoumenitsa: 14 stab wounds on 25-year-old Penelope – the two neck wounds were fatal
The 25-year-old sustained fourteen blows from a sharp object, according to the forensic pathology report. Two deep wounds to the neck caused her death.

Fourteen wounds from a sharp object were found during the forensic pathology examination of 25-year-old Penelope, who was discovered dead on a cycle path in Igoumenitsa on Sunday 20 September, according to information broadcast by ERT.
The autopsy was performed at the Forensic Pathology Service of Epirus by forensic pathologist Giannis Aivatidis. The findings confirm that this was an attack of exceptional brutality.
Of the total of 14 wounds, two deep injuries to the neck area were those that caused the young woman's death.
Seven of the wounds were found on the back of the 25-year-old and caused injuries to vital organs: the lungs, liver and spleen. At the same time, Penelope had wounds to the upper and lower limbs, including to the thumb.
From the characteristic wounds on her hands, it follows, according to the same information, that she attempted to defend herself and to stop the blade.
The multiple wounds to the back, with injuries to internal organs, as well as the two fatal wounds to the neck, are key findings for the prosecuting authorities investigating the circumstances of the murder.
