A 24-year-old woman is being treated in critical condition at the University General Hospital of Ioannina following an incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Igoumenitsa. According to reports, the 29-year-old partner has been arrested and faces charges of attempted murder and a violation of the Road Traffic Code.
According to a police statement, the couple had previously had an intense argument. The man then started the car while the woman was on the bonnet. The 24-year-old fell from the moving vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
Following the incident, the 29-year-old called 100 and reported the incident to the authorities. The injured woman was initially transferred to Filiates Hospital and then to the University Hospital of Ioannina, where she is being treated.
A police breath test found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The 29-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning by police officers from the Subdirectorate for Crime Investigation and Detection of Igoumenitsa.
A case file was drawn up against him for attempted murder and a violation of the Road Traffic Code. The arrested man is expected to be brought before the District Prosecutor's Office of Thesprotia.
