A 27-year-old man accused of the murder of a 25-year-old woman in Igoumenitsa is expected to be transferred to Domokos prison, according to megatv.com. Both the investigating magistrate and prosecutor agreed to his remand in custody in a case that has shocked the local community.
During the same period, authorities recorded a series of domestic violence incidents in various areas of the country.
In Kalamata, a 38-year-old man fired a rifle twice at his ex-partner. "When he found himself facing me, he said something to me that in my panic I cannot remember. Then he raised the weapon, aimed at me and fired twice in my direction. The fact that I'm alive is pure luck," the victim stated. The 25-year-old woman was not injured, whilst the perpetrator was arrested a short time later. Before the attack, he had posted an insulting message on social media and had telephoned the victim, telling her "your life is short".
In Patras, a 60-year-old retired police officer attacked his 57-year-old ex-partner inside a cake shop, insulting her and striking her with his fists to the face and head, breaking her finger in the process. The woman is hospitalised, whilst the perpetrator is being sought.
In Ierapetra, a 44-year-old man under the influence of alcohol struck his partner with his fists and a bed board. The woman is hospitalised with injuries to her face and body, whilst the perpetrator is to be brought before the prosecutor.
