Execution in Glyfada: The victim's connection to extortion rings
New details about the murder of a 52-year-old man in Glyfada have emerged, according to skai.gr. The victim was found dead in the early hours of Sunday next to a motorcycle at the intersection of Karamanlis and Panagoulis streets.
When police arrived at the scene, they established that the man had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Eight shell casings were found at the scene.
Ambush laid by two perpetrators on a motorcycle
Two perpetrators dressed in dark clothing and helmets, riding on a motorcycle, had set up an ambush waiting for the victim to leave his home, which is approximately one kilometre from the murder site. While in motion, the passenger opened fire, hitting the 52-year-old from behind, causing him to fall from his motorcycle. Approximately five bullets struck him in the back and one in the head.
Amateur video footage captured the ambulance that arrived at the intersection of the two streets minutes after the execution.
Serious criminal history and ties to leading figures
An investigation by the Greek FBI revealed that the 52-year-old had an extensive criminal record and had been arrested as a member of extortion groups. His activities were connected to the person known as "Thamnakia", "Mega" or "Crazy", a leading figure in the "Greek Mafia" who was murdered in April 2025, as well as with his deputy with the nickname "Black" or "Gypsy", who was killed by execution gunfire in Ilioupoli in December 2020.
In September 2021 he was recorded on video minutes after carrying out an armed attack against a 32-year-old on Alexandras Avenue.
His criminal record included an arrest in 2011 for incidents at a football match, an arrest in 2015 for activities with "Thamnakia's" extortion group, an arrest in 2018 for an armed attack outside the Olympic Stadium, and an arrest in 2021 for the shootings on Alexandras Avenue. He had also been of concern to authorities for shooting incidents related to rivalries between supporters and for domestic violence.
The investigation into the perpetrators' motives is ongoing.
