Three arrested individuals are being held for a fire that broke out in a flat in Thessaloniki, resulting in one death.

Investigative authorities brought in a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman as primary suspects. The man is alleged to have started the fire at the entrance of the building. The woman was found on the island of Crete, as she had fled there following the incident. Both have connections to anarchist circles and are known to authorities.

A third person, aged 24, was arrested as the owner of the house where the first two hid before and after committing the act.

In order to avoid recognition by security cameras, the perpetrators carried an umbrella. However, their tactic failed, as a surveillance system recorded their faces. The umbrella was found near the crime scene and was sent for analysis.

Officers are carefully investigating the mobile phones of the suspects. The 29-year-old attempted to throw his device when arrested, but it was recovered and is expected to reveal evidence.

The prosecutor launched proceedings for formation of a terrorist group, murder with possible malice, attempted homicide, explosion, arson and illegal possession of weapons. The three defendants requested and were granted an adjournment to give their statements on the following Tuesday.
