All parties in Parliament expressed condemnation and outrage over the firebomb attack with petrol bombs in Thessaloniki, which claimed the life of Vagia Nestor, mother of a New Democracy MP, according to In.gr.
"I would like to express, on behalf of the government, our outrage and anger at the cowardly terrorist attacks that took place early yesterday morning and which had a tragic outcome," said Labour Minister Nicki Kerameos. "Violence has no place whatsoever in our society. Those who don don the mantle of social struggle to carry out such acts are nothing but criminals," she added.
PASOK parliamentary spokesperson Dimitris Manthos stressed that violence, from wherever it originates, has no place in democracy. "We join our voice with those who unequivocally, explicitly and categorically condemn this terrorist attack that claimed the life of an innocent person in Thessaloniki, as well as the attack that took place at the same time on the homes of ND MPs," said Manthos.
From SYRIZA, Georgos Gavrelos characterised the attack as condemnable "without ifs and buts" and called for unity without populism and political exploitation. "We join our voice with all Greek democrats, standing against this coordinated mode of action by extremist elements," he stated.
Nikos Karathanasopulos of the KKE characterised the actions as "provocative and condemnable," whilst expressing concern that they are being exploited to strengthen deterrence and to target the people's struggle. "The KKE condemns these actions," he concluded.
