At least five people were taken to hospital following incendiary attacks on residences of members of the conservative ruling New Democracy party in Thessaloniki. The counter-terrorism service has taken over the investigation.

Three incendiary devices exploded on Wednesday morning in Thessaloniki, outside residences of officials from the ruling New Democracy party. The attacks left at least five people injured, including one of the targeted individuals.
The first attack targeted Zissis Ioakeimopoulos, chairman of the party's regional governing committee in Thessaloniki. The second target was former MP Savvas Anastasiadis. The third explosion occurred outside the home of New Democracy candidate Aphroditi Nestoraiou. She, her mother and another woman sustained burns. Nestoraiou's father and another resident were hospitalised for respiratory problems.
The first two attacks caused no injuries; the third had more serious consequences. The perpetrators likely arrived by motorcycle and detonated three incendiary devices within half an hour starting at four in the morning. The fire caused by a gas container caused damage to two cars and two motorcycles.
The counter-terrorism service has taken over the investigation. Anastasiadis handed over security camera footage to police in which, as he stated, the perpetrators can be seen leaving the scene of the crime.
"Those who play with human lives must be severely punished," said Minister of Civil Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis. The centre-left opposition PASOK party also condemned the attacks.
Similar incidents have occurred repeatedly in Greece. In July 2025, a bomb exploded outside the home of the chairman of the union of prison staff in Thessaloniki — he escaped without injury, but two other people were slightly injured by shards of glass. In June 2024, a police officer guarding the residence of a prominent judge in Athens was injured during a Molotov cocktail attack.
