Police arrested two people in Athens on charges of drug trafficking. The operation by prosecuting authorities was carried out on Friday afternoon, 19 June 2026.

Those arrested are a young Greek woman, 28 years old, and a foreign man ten years her senior. According to what has been established, the couple was selling illegal substances in various areas of the capital.

The case unfolded when authorities exploited information at their disposal. Investigations followed, along with the collection of evidence and analysis of the suspects' movements, with the aim of mapping their network.

On Friday afternoon, police located them in an area of Athens whilst they were transporting eight packages of cannabis in a hired vehicle. The total quantity reached 9.36 kilograms. The cargo was intended for sale to third parties.

During a search that was carried out, officers found and seized the narcotics, the vehicle they were using, as well as 18,000 euros in cash. Additionally, five mobile phones, keys, cardboard boxes, and a piece of cardboard with a carbon sheet were seized — materials being investigated for possible use in the packaging or distribution of the substances.

As it emerged, the 30-year-old had come to the attention of authorities before. In the past he had been charged with attempted robbery, as well as breaches of health regulations.

The two defendants were brought before a prosecutor, whilst investigations continue to determine whether there were other accomplices in the network.
