Greek police arrested nine members of an organised cocaine trafficking ring in Attica, including the alleged leader, a 39-year-old of Albanian origin.

Greek police disbanded an organised cocaine trafficking ring operating in various areas of Attica, making nine arrests and seizing drugs, weapons and cash. According to Ta Nea, the organisation's illegal profits are estimated at over €900,000.
The operation was conducted on the morning of 10 June 2026 by officers from the Athens Violent Crime Investigation Directorate, with the support of the Organised Crime Unit and the Rapid Reaction Unit. Police located the ring's hideouts and carried out searches at houses and storage facilities.
Nine people aged between 24 and 49 were arrested in total. Among them was the alleged leader, a 39-year-old of Albanian origin who, according to police, issued orders and coordinated the actions of members. Below him operated three sub-leaders responsible for distributing cocaine to other members; the leader and one of them were arrested, while the other two remain at large.
The investigation showed that the organisation had been active at least since December 2025. Members used counter-surveillance measures to avoid detection.
Cases were filed against those arrested for participation in a criminal organisation, drug trafficking, violations of weapons legislation, money laundering, document forgery and violations of legislation concerning foreigners. Additionally, five other individuals have been identified who are being sought by authorities.
The arrested individuals have already been brought before the competent prosecutor.
