The Mixed Jury Court of Giannitsa has found all defendants guilty in the amusement park accident in August 2024, in which a 19-year-old lost his life.

The Giannitsa court announced the conviction of all four persons on trial for the fatal incident at an amusement park in Peukochori in the summer of 2024. A young man, aged 19, tragically lost his life at that time.
The man who owned the business was convicted of causing death with possible intent, as well as of attempted similar acts. His partner, who participated in management, was found to be an accessory to the same offences. The 21-year-old operator, who had control of the equipment, was held responsible for fatal exposure, simple exposure and causing bodily injury to the victim's brother. The technician who had inspected the equipment was convicted as an accessory to manslaughter and attempted acts with possible intent.
During her address, the prosecutor had called for the conviction of all defendants. She argued that the particular ride was operating in an advanced state of disrepair, without safety specifications. It had been privately constructed and should have been replaced entirely. The owner had failed to maintain it, had hired inexperienced personnel without adequate training, and had taken no protective measures.
The hearing is continuing with discussion of possible mitigating circumstances, whilst sentencing is awaited.
