A police operation at the Special Juvenile Correctional Facility of Aulona on the afternoon of Monday, 14 September resulted in five inmate arrests, according to cnn.gr.

The search of three cells was conducted in the presence of a prosecutor's representative and with the assistance of EKMΧ police officers. A total of 1.3 grammes of cocaine, 2.5 grammes of processed cannabis in "chocolate" form, 2.1 grammes of unprocessed cannabis and 4 mobile devices were seized.

From the preliminary investigation, it emerged that the five inmates were jointly distributing drugs to other prisoners. All have previously come to the attention of authorities for similar and other offences, and were referred to the competent prosecutor.

During the operation, a prison officer was also found outside the facility in possession of a makeshift cigarette containing 0.5 grammes of unprocessed cannabis. Following notification of the competent prosecutor, he was released, whilst the relevant file will be submitted to the competent authorities.
