Assault on kindergarten principal by parents in Ano Liosia – Investigation underway
A kindergarten principal is hospitalised following an alleged assault by parents, whilst an investigation examines video footage showing the principal's conduct towards children.
Investigation into Ano Liosia kindergarten: Principal in hospital after assault allegation
A Sworn Administrative Investigation (EDE) is underway into an incident that occurred on the morning of Monday, 28 September at a kindergarten in Ano Liosia, according to Dikastiko.gr. At the centre of the investigation is video footage showing the principal shouting at young pupils during a break.
In the video, according to available information, the educator addresses the children in a harsh tone, stating that they are causing damage to the building worth 5,000 euros. She is also reported to have responded to remarks from bystanders about the way she was speaking to the pupils, insisting that she would do as she pleased.
The principal remains hospitalised in serious condition. This was confirmed by Dionysis Anastopoulos, deputy director of Primary and Secondary Education in Attica, speaking to ERT News.
Allegation of assault by parents of four-year-old pupil
According to an allegation made by the educator herself, she subsequently suffered an assault by the parents of a four-year-old pupil at the kindergarten. The child's father is reported to have attacked her and struck her on the head with a punch, whilst the mother is reported to have slapped her.
The principal claimed that she was injured in the assault and required transport to hospital for medical care. Police officers responded to the scene and proceeded to arrest the mother. The father was sought for questioning as part of the summary procedure to determine whether his arrest would follow.
Investigation by educational, police and judicial authorities
The aim of the EDE is to investigate the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred and to clarify what preceded and what followed it. In parallel, police and judicial authorities are conducting their own investigation into the events of that day.
