Unknown assailants attacked three members of New Democracy with an incendiary device in Thessaloniki. The mother of a parliamentary candidate is in serious condition in an intensive care unit.

Three members of New Democracy were injured during the night in Thessaloniki when perpetrators of unknown identity attacked them using flammable material. The mother of parliamentary candidate Aphrodite Mastora is hospitalised in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Hippocrates Hospital, on ventilator support.
At the same hospital, both Ms Mastora herself and her father remain for further monitoring.
The incident was commented on by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at an event for the presentation of a digital platform concerning the operation of the parliamentary group of the ruling party. According to Newsit, Mr Mitsotakis characterised the attack as "a barbaric, terrorist, murderous act" and stressed that his thoughts are with the victims, particularly with the mother of the politician who is fighting for her life.
The Prime Minister announced that he would travel urgently to the co-capital accompanied by the Ministers of Citizen Protection and Health. The purpose of the visit is to support the victims, receive an update on the progress of their health, and send a clear message to those responsible.
"We will not tolerate any form of terrorism in the country. These phenomena belong to the past. Our party has paid a high price from domestic terrorist organisations and we will not permit their reappearance. We will locate you and you will be brought before the courts of justice," he stated characteristically.
Before his address, Mr Mitsotakis had spoken by telephone with the director of the governing committee of New Democracy, Zisis Ioaninidis. The ruling party published a message on social media addressed to both the perpetrators and the victims of the attack.
The Prime Minister's visit to Hippocrates Hospital is scheduled for after 16:00.
