Two neo-Nazis in custody following bloody attack in Eleusis

According to Newsbeast, the two assailants who attacked a 32-year-old anti-fascist with a knife in Eleusis are now in custody at the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate. The attack caused injuries to the victim's thighs. The two arrested individuals are expected to appear before a magistrate on Tuesday.

One of the two defendants, a 22-year-old, has filed a counter-complaint against the victim for assault. "He filed a complaint against me for assault because I acted in self-defence, we're talking about madness," the 32-year-old stated.

The organisation "Propatria"

Both defendants belong to the organisation "Propatria". Its members call themselves nationalists, display clear Nazi references, train in the mountains and practise martial arts—training that recalls the assault squads of Golden Dawn.

"Propatria" maintains contacts with nationalist organisations abroad that operate in the field of martial arts. Documents emerging from its Telegram communication channel reveal direct links with the "autonomous nationalist youth organisation".

During a search of the 22-year-old's home, a white envelope was found containing stickers bearing as a signature the initials "AUTONOMOUS NATIONALIST YOUTH OF ATHENS". The activities of this organisation resemble those of Golden Dawn's assault squads: they appear wearing hoods and carrying wooden sticks with folded Greek flags.

History of violence and new gathering

In October 2021, members of the "Movement United Against Racism and Fascist Threat" were attacked in Nea Iraklio. One of the now arrested individuals appeared on social media as a member of "Propatria", whilst that group had at the time denied any involvement in the incident.

In the afternoon of yesterday, an anti-fascist gathering was held at Heroes Square in Eleusis, in reaction to the attack.
