Tension arose in Exarcheia shortly after midnight on Saturday, when a group of unknown assailants attacked police forces in the area.
The perpetrators hurled Molotov bombs at officers from the DRASI unit, who were patrolling on Tositsa and Tsamadou streets. Immediately after the attack, the perpetrators scattered into the surrounding streets.
The authorities launched a pursuit through the narrow streets around Exarcheia square, and arrests of individuals were made. No further details have been released regarding the number of those arrested or any property damage and injuries.
