Video reveals two unknowns in club attack in Kallithea
New details are emerging regarding the attack in Kallithea, according to the newspaper Ta Nea. Video footage being examined by police authorities shows two unknown individuals dressed in black moving near the 55-year-old ethnic Greek dentist, both before and during the episode.
According to the same information, at the moment the dentist allegedly struck one of the two young Egyptians with a metal club, the second Egyptian who was standing at a bus stop runs away. A few seconds later, the two unknown individuals in black clothes appear to immobilise him and lead him back towards the spot where the ethnic Greek was located. Officers from the Property Crime Investigation Unit (TDEEI) in Kallithea are searching for them to clarify their role.
The preliminary investigation overturned initial conclusions: no forced entry was found, neither to an apartment nor at the main entrance of the building. New evidence also suggests that the two young Egyptians may never have entered the apartment building where the 55-year-old lives with his wife.
As reported by MEGA, the incident began with a telephone call from the dentist's wife. She told the channel: "It was taking a very long time and they were taking photographs. They kept coming and going. They were around our house for over an hour and a half, circling about. I took him aside and told him 'I don't like this'. I wanted to call the police, but as soon as they saw me they disappeared. They went into the courtyard, into my space, and photographed the house directly."
The 55-year-old, instead of notifying the police, hurried to the area carrying a metal club and found the two young men at a bus stop, where he attacked them.
A different account is provided by the two young men who were attacked through their lawyer. "The people had gone to a shop located on the ground floor of that particular apartment building, which sells second-hand furniture and was closed. They were photographing the shop to show that it was the one," their lawyer stated.
The 22-year-old is hospitalised under guard with serious head injuries. The 21-year-old friend was referred before a prosecutor, who brought charges against him for attempted joint theft and illegal entry into the country. The 55-year-old dentist was charged with dangerous bodily harm, illegal weapons possession and illegal weapons use.
