Assault on taxi driver in Nea Ionia: passenger bit and tore 54-year-old's ear
A 35-year-old passenger attacked a female taxi driver in Nea Ionia, biting her face and tearing her ear. He was arrested after a neighbour immobilised him in the street.

A 35-year-old passenger violently attacked a 54-year-old female taxi driver in Nea Ionia, biting her face and tearing her ear, before beginning to chase her in the street. According to Ethnos, the man was arrested after a neighbour in the area managed to immobilise him until police arrived.
The eyewitness described to Alpha what he witnessed shortly after midnight. "Around 00:00 I wake up and I hear 'help help' and I see outside a lot of people. I see a girl getting out of the car. Before I go out I see a man getting out of the taxi and chasing the girl," he stated.
He intervened immediately: "I went towards him, I pulled him towards me and we immobilised him. From what I understood, he had bitten her with his teeth on the ear. I grab him, I immobilise him down, everyone falls on him and within a minute the police arrived."
According to what has become known, the 35-year-old boarded the 54-year-old's taxi and during the journey the two of them came into a verbal altercation. The passenger then turned violently against the driver, biting her forcefully on the face and causing a tear to her ear.
The neighbours who heard the shouting found the driver covered in blood and in a state of severe distress. The woman was taken with serious injury to "Elpis" hospital, where she received first aid.
The 35-year-old was arrested by the authorities. A case file was opened against him for grievous bodily harm and threatening behaviour.
