Two arrests in Heraklion following complaint of pimping and rape

Two individuals were arrested in Heraklion in connection with a case involving pimping, human trafficking, domestic violence and rape, whilst two other individuals are being sought by authorities. According to In.gr, the case began on Wednesday 30 September, when a 28-year-old woman of Romanian nationality reported her 32-year-old partner, also a Romanian national, to the police authorities.

The 28-year-old is reported to have stated that her partner had been prostituting her since August 2025 in Heraklion hotels, keeping the money himself. At the same time, she reported him for beatings and rape. eKriti reports that the woman also spoke of threats and sexual acts without her consent, whilst she claimed that her exploitation was also linked to foreign involvement.

The matter of identity documents

The issue of the young woman's travel documents presents particular interest to authorities. The 28-year-old is reported initially to have stated that the 32-year-old had her identity card in his possession. He, however, presented himself voluntarily to Heraklion Police and claimed that the document was in the hands of a 48-year-old Romanian, owner of a transport office.

According to the version reportedly given by the 32-year-old to authorities, he sought out the 48-year-old in order to recover the identity card and ultimately met the 70-year-old mother of the latter, also a Romanian national. She is reported to have asked him for money to return the document, while also keeping his identity card as a "guarantee" until the sum was paid.

eKriti reports that the 48-year-old operates in the transport sector on the Romania-Greece route, a detail which is under examination as part of the investigation.

Search of residence and arrests

The developments led police authorities to search the 70-year-old woman's residence, where the 32-year-old's identity card, cash sums and personal documents were found. eKriti also mentions notes that were seized and are being examined by the relevant police officers.

In the course of the investigation two individuals were arrested: the 32-year-old Romanian, who faces charges related to pimping and domestic violence, as well as the 73-year-old husband of the 70-year-old woman, who was present at the residence during the police operation.

The 48-year-old owner of the transport office and the 70-year-old mother are being sought by authorities, so that their role in the case may be investigated.

Preliminary investigation ongoing

Following the filing of the complaint, the 28-year-old was given the opportunity to activate the Panic Button, however she did not wish to make use of this procedure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, with police authorities seeking to clarify the role of each person involved and the circumstances under which the 28-year-old is reported to have found herself in a state of exploitation.
