Seven people have been arrested for running a criminal organisation that distributed pirate television services to over 86,000 users, causing damage of €50 million to legitimate providers.

Four of the seven people arrested for running a criminal organisation that distributed illegal subscription television services were brought before the Heraklion courts on the morning of Saturday 20 June to give statements. The Department for Combating Organised Crime in Crete had proceeded with the dismantling of the network in the preceding days, with the investigation spreading across the entire country and abroad.
The Hellenic Police announced that the group used advanced technological means. The customers it served are estimated at over 86,000 people. During investigations that lasted months, 58 bank accounts were identified across ten different countries. The financial gain obtained by the organisation is calculated at least €7 million, whilst the damage to legitimate providers amounts to €50 million.
Three of those arrested were given a postponement by the examining magistrate and will make statements on Monday, according to the APA-MPE news agency.
