A 59-year-old accused of six arson attacks over three days in Sindos is to appear before an examining magistrate today. He apologised, claiming he had become exhausted from his work.

Appearing before an examining magistrate today, 14 August, is the 59-year-old arrested for six arson attacks in Sindos, Thessaloniki over a three-day period, according to reports from Ta Nea.
The man was arrested on Wednesday after security camera footage from a business recorded him getting out of his car, approaching an area with dense vegetation and, shortly afterwards, a fire breaking out. The video proved crucial in identifying him.
During his statement, the 59-year-old apologised, claiming he had become exhausted from his work. He is reported to be expressing remorse for his actions today.
The investigation revealed that he was using paper napkins as accelerant material, which he would light before leaving the scene. In analysing his modus operandi, authorities identified similarities with five other arson cases in the broader area.
