Six arrested for drugs at Aulona prison – including correctional officer
A police operation at the Special Youth Correctional Facility of Aulona resulted in six arrests for drug trafficking, with a correctional officer among those detained.
Operation at Aulona prison: five inmates and officer taken into custody
Six arrests for possession and trafficking of narcotics were carried out on the afternoon of Monday, 14 September 2026 at the Special Youth Correctional Facility of Aulona, according to Newsbeast. The operation involved police officers from the Organised Crime Confrontation Directorate, EKAM forces and a prosecutor.
The Hellenic Police announced that the investigation was initiated following the exploitation of information regarding possession and trafficking of narcotic substances within the facility, with the aim of tackling organised groups operating within the prison.
What was found in three cells
During searches of three cells, police officers seized small quantities of cocaine, raw cannabis and processed cannabis in the form of "chocolate". Four mobile phones were also found, which are being examined as part of the preliminary investigation.
According to the authorities, five of the detained inmates are alleged to have acted in coordination, trafficking drugs to other inmates of the facility.
Correctional officer arrested with cannabis
In the course of the same operation, a correctional officer was also arrested, in whose possession was found a makeshift cigarette containing raw cannabis. The substance was seized, and the officer was released on the orders of the competent prosecutor.
The five inmates and the correctional officer were taken to the competent authorities. As it emerged, the arrested inmates had previously been of concern to the authorities for similar and other offences. The preliminary investigation is continuing for full investigation of the case.
