Two armed robberies solved in Kifissia and Lykovrysi – 39-year-old arrested for gang membership
Officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of North-Eastern Attica have managed to resolve two armed robbery incidents at shops in Kifissia and Lykovrysi. During the investigation, a 39-year-old Greek man was arrested, who is accused of participation in an organised gang that systematically carried out thefts and robberies.
According to the evidence gathered, the arrested man together with accomplices had created a group that operated in a professional manner. Members of the gang acted jointly and repeatedly, aiming to obtain money through the use of violence.
The tactic they followed included stealing vehicles as an initial step. Subsequently, using these stolen cars, they would approach the businesses they had selected as targets. They would park the vehicles near the shops. After entering the premises, using the threat of a weapon, they would seize cash amounts from the tills and from employees.
To avoid being identified, the accused took special precautions. They wore gloves, hats and hoods, making it difficult for authorities and employees to identify them.
The total amount stolen from the two robberies exceeds €12,500.
The 39-year-old was brought before the prosecutor to give a statement.
