Authorities have solved the homicide of a foreign national whose body was discovered in 2022 in a maritime area of Thessaloniki. Four fellow nationals of the victim are implicated.

Police announced that a crime committed in June 2022 has been solved. At that time, the body of a foreign national was found dismembered in a coastal zone of the city. After years of investigation, officers identified four individuals of the same national background as the victim.

According to findings, these individuals abducted the unfortunate man and drove him to a remote location. There they killed him and subsequently attempted to cover their tracks by throwing the body into the sea with weights to make it sink.

The investigation led to arrests. One of the four was apprehended in late May in Thessaloniki. The other three appear to have left the country immediately after the crime.

The victim had a prior history with one of the perpetrators. From 2020, the same man had filed repeated complaints against him, and had also been attacked by him and five other individuals. Following that attack, the victim left Thessaloniki, but returned in June 2022. It was then that he fell victim to the abduction and murder.

The investigation also revealed that three of the same individuals were involved in another abduction of a fellow national in 2020, which is directly connected to the murder.
