Today, 15 July, lawyer Aphrodite Nestora left the medical facility where she had remained following the arson attack on her home in Thessaloniki. The incident had led to the death of her mother, Vagia.
According to an announcement issued by the hospital, her health condition developed positively. Doctors determined that there was no longer any need for hospitalisation and the patient was discharged in good condition.
Nestora had initially been transferred to Hippocrateiou and later to Papanikolau. There she went through the Burns Unit and subsequently through the Plastic Surgery Department.
In statements, the lawyer described the night of the attack as nightmarish. "We could not breathe. The atmosphere inside the building was suffocating. It was as if we were on a battlefield," she said.
She expressed her gratitude to the staff of both hospitals. Particularly regarding Hippocrateiou, she highlighted the efforts made by doctors to save her mother, which unfortunately did not have a successful outcome.
Nestora stressed that the road to full recovery would be long. "I will need to undergo many treatments, visits to doctors and changes. The return to normal life will be very difficult," she stated.
Regarding those arrested, the lawyer called for the imposition of the strictest sanctions. "This is a terrorist and murderous act. Those responsible must face the most serious charges provided for under the penal code and counter-terrorism legislation," she emphasised.
Nestora declared herself determined to get back on her feet. "I will give all my strength to return to everyday life. This constitutes a response to every terrorist act. I want to make my mother proud," she concluded.
