16-year-old found in park with drugs and attacked police officers
According to huffingtonpost.gr, a sixteen-year-old was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Glyfada after resisting and attacking police officers who attempted to check him.
Police officers spotted the minor in a park engaging in suspicious activity. When they signalled him to stop, the 16-year-old allegedly hid nylon packages containing narcotics in a tree and then attempted to flee by running. During the foot pursuit, police officers eventually managed to immobilise him.
Konstantia Dimoglidi, spokesperson for the Hellenic Police, stated to ERTnews that carefully concealed packages containing narcotics ready for distribution were found in his possession. She also noted that authorities would investigate from whom the minor was obtaining the substances and which other persons were involved in the network.
Dimoglidi emphasised that criminal organisations target young people and minors, many of whom are themselves users and turn to drug trafficking in order to secure their dose.
In connection with the same case, the minor's 42-year-old mother was also arrested, on a charge of neglect of supervision of a minor.
