Arrest of 16-year-old cannabis dealer in Glyfada park
Police in Glyfada arrested a 16-year-old on Sunday afternoon who is alleged to have been distributing drugs in a park in the area, according to aftodioikisi.gr citing ERT. In the same operation, his 42-year-old mother was also arrested, on charges of child neglect.
Officers from the Glyfada Crime Investigation and Prevention Department spotted the minor after observing suspicious movements and signalled him to stop. The 16-year-old refused to comply: he is alleged to have first hidden nylon packages containing drugs in a nearby tree and then attempted to flee by running.
A foot pursuit followed, with police officers eventually immobilising him. During his arrest, the minor is alleged to have struck police officers with punches and kicks, but was unable to evade handcuffs.
A search of the location where he had hidden the packages yielded a total of 40 nylon sachets containing 29 grammes of raw cannabis and 22 grammes of processed cannabis. According to the case details, the quantity was intended for distribution in the broader Glyfada area.
