Femicide in Igoumenitsa: 15 stab wounds to 25-year-old biologist – 27-year-old confesses

According to Dikastiko.gr, the autopsy-necrotomy of the 25-year-old biologist who was murdered by her 27-year-old partner in Igoumenitsa has been completed. The results point to an exceptionally violent attack: the young woman sustained a total of 15 stab wounds across her body.
Two deep stab wounds to the neck proved fatal, causing severe haemorrhage. Furthermore, the 25-year-old sustained seven stab wounds to the back, resulting in damage to vital organs — the liver, left lung, and stomach. The wounds to her hands and shin suggest that the woman attempted to defend herself.
The weapon used was a knife of the hunting-knife type, 7.5 centimetres in length. The wounds on the victim's body reflect, according to the forensic examination, the ferocity of the perpetrator who has confessed.
The false call and the confession
Shortly after 21:40 on Sunday, the 27-year-old called Emergency Services and claimed that unknown individuals with covered features attacked both him and his friend. He did not report an attempted robbery.
When police officers arrived at the first kiosk of the cycle path, they found the 25-year-old dead and, at a short distance, the 27-year-old injured. The scene they encountered did not match his telephone account.
His explanations raised questions from the outset. When called upon to provide further details and confronted with contradictions in his statement, he is reported to have reversed course and admitted that he attacked the young woman with the hunting knife. He then indicated to police officers the location where he had thrown the knife. The weapon was seized and will be examined at the forensic laboratories of the Hellenic Police.
Known to authorities since age 13
A check of the 27-year-old's records revealed that he had come to the attention of the authorities from the age of 13. In 2012, he is reported to have been involved, along with other individuals, in an attack against police officers outside Parliament.
The 27-year-old continues to be hospitalised under police guard. Police officers are gathering testimonies and material from cameras, with the aim of reconstructing the events that preceded the murder.
