68-year-old priest arrested for "revenge porn" in Larisa – suspended by Grevenae Diocese
The 68-year-old clergyman was arrested in Grevenae for revenge pornography against a 43-year-old woman. The Holy Diocese immediately suspended him from his duties.
Priest suspended in Grevenae following arrest for revenge pornography
The Holy Diocese of Grevenae has moved to immediately suspend a 68-year-old clergyman from his administrative duties and to replace him, following his arrest in a "revenge porn" case, as reported by Newsit.gr.
The priest was arrested in Grevenae on 13 October 2026, on charges of domestic threats and revenge pornography. The complaint was filed by a 43-year-old woman from Larisa with the District Prosecutor's Office of the city.
The accused does not deny the existence of a relationship with the complainant, but claims that he did not use this relationship in a retaliatory manner. At the same time, he asserts that he has a financial claim against her, as she received an advance for religious paintings that she never delivered.
Within the framework of the flagrante delicto proceedings, the priest was brought before the Larisa Prosecutor's Office. His defence counsel requested and was granted an extension until Friday, whilst he was released on the condition that he have no contact with the 43-year-old woman.
The Diocese of Grevenae announced that it will await official notification from the competent District Prosecutor's Office in Larisa before taking any further action, in accordance with applicable legislation and within the scope of its remit.
