Kallithea: 15-year-old dead after street clash—18-year-old perpetrator confesses
A 15-year-old teenager was found dead in Kallithea following a violent clash between two groups of young people. Initially, reports had emerged that the victim was 17 years old, but identification of the body revealed he was 15.
The incident began shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Eight young people were gathered in a square in the area, whilst at a nearby location, at the intersection of Megaloupoleos and Kremmou streets, there was another group of three people. They called for reinforcements and five additional people arrived by car.
After a verbal altercation, the situation escalated into a fight and pursuit through the surrounding streets. Eventually, in front of an apartment building on Megaloupoleos Street, one of the attackers stabbed the 15-year-old in the chest and torso with a knife.
The perpetrators abandoned the victim covered in blood and fled. Police proceeded to apprehend 14 people, among them the alleged murderer, an 18-year-old Greek national.
At the Department of Sports Violence, the young man admitted that he was the one who stabbed the victim with a knife. The prosecuting authorities are investigating all possible motives behind the crime. A screwdriver and a jumper, likely belonging to the victim, were found at the scene.
Police located a knife, but the 18-year-old claimed he threw the weapon he used into a rubbish bin. For this reason, the investigation continues in order to find the actual weapon used in the crime.
