Four defendants have been sentenced for the death of a 19-year-old at an amusement park in August 2024.

Last August, a 19-year-old teenager lost his life in an accident that occurred at an entertainment venue in Halkidiki. The Mixed Jury Court of Giannitsa decided on the punishment of four individuals found responsible for the incident, according to efsyn.gr.
The decision was delivered unanimously, with all judges in agreement. The sentences imposed ranged from limited-duration imprisonment to life deprivation of liberty. The presiding judge emphasised that the judiciary evaluates actions and not personalities.
The business owner, who had been held in custody since December, returned to jail. The other three will remain free pending examination of the case by a higher court, subject to a travel ban from the country and a financial guarantee of twenty thousand euros.
Present in the courtroom were the victim's parents and brother, who was with him during the incident with the disputed ride. The young man's father stated that he would continue to fight for full justice, whilst respecting the decisions of the judicial authorities.
The proceedings had commenced in November. The public prosecutor's proposal was accepted regarding the guilt of the defendants, whilst applications for mitigating circumstances were rejected.
A new trial for the same incident is scheduled for next December in Thessaloniki. This will determine additional matters related to neglect of duties by public service officials and engineers. Among the individuals who will stand trial are former elected members of the local authority and engineers.
