Footage from the pursuit of a 20-year-old driver in the centre of Argos has come to light. The footage shows police vehicles following the young man's vehicle, shortly before he comes under fire and sustains serious injuries.

The pursuit started from Pyrgela and lasted approximately 35 minutes. The 20-year-old drove through several neighbourhoods of the city — Elliniko, Airport, Stathaki, Monastiraki — until his vehicle was immobilised in a car park at a supermarket.

When the vehicle stopped, the young man abandoned it and jumped over a boundary wall onto an adjacent plot of land with an abandoned building. There, his pursuers opened fire. The 20-year-old was struck by two bullets to the head. Thirteen shell casings were found at the scene.

The injured man was first transferred to Thriassio hospital and then to KAT Amarousio. Today he remains on a ventilator, sedated, with his doctors describing him as virtually brain dead. The doctor who received him reported a blunt firearm trauma wound, with the occipital region of the head as the entry point.

During the operation, the pursuers became aware that the 20-year-old was carrying a weapon. This is not the first time he has come into conflict with the law — in a previous search of a vehicle he was driving, a knuckleduster, a baton and a police torch had been found.
