Three individuals are involved in a telephone fraud perpetrated against an 84-year-old woman in Katerini, obtaining pounds, jewellery and cash worth more than €50,000.

According to Google News GR — Crime (el), the Katerini Prosecution and Crime Investigation Directorate has uncovered a telephone fraud perpetrated against an 84-year-old woman in Pieria, which took place last May.
A file was compiled against three individuals: two men, aged 33 and 44, and a 44-year-old woman, whose details were identified by the authorities.
According to the Hellenic Police, an unknown woman contacted the elderly woman by telephone, presenting herself as an employee of an accounting firm. She claimed that registration of money and jewellery at the house was required to avoid the imposition of a fine. The 84-year-old woman was convinced and handed over to two men 50 gold pounds worth approximately €40,000, jewellery worth €10,000 and €750 in cash.
The two men fled in a vehicle belonging to the 44-year-old defendant. Authorities continue to seek the identity of the woman who made the telephone call, whilst investigations are also underway into the possible involvement of the defendants in other similar cases. The file will be forwarded to the Magistrate's Court Prosecutor's Office of Katerini.
